Skiing Near Flagstaff Lake

While Flagstaff Landing isn’t a Ski lodge, one of the big reasons why our guests stay with us in the winter is our great location in the middle of Maine’s ski country.  We’re 10 miles from Sugarloaf and less than 45 minutes from Saddleback mountain, two of Maine’s best Ski resorts.  Add in other fun winter activities like snowmobiling and ice fishing, and the Flagstaff Lake area is just as attractive in winter as it is in summer.

Sugarloaf Ski Resort

Sugarloaf is the premier Maine ski resort and it’s located just 10 miles from our door on Sugarloaf Mountain! With over 60 miles of marked trails and a 95% snowmaking capacity, Sugarloaf offers some of the best skiing in New England. Our continuous vertical drop of 2,820 feet is the second longest in the region, and with thirteen chairlifts and 1,400 acres of skiable area, we can accommodate skiers of all abilities.

At 4,237 feet, Sugarloaf Mountain is the third-highest peak in Maine, offering the only lift-serviced above-treeline skiing in the Northeast. The summit offers stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and the Appalachian Trail is located just 0.6 miles away.

Our trails are named after logging terms in honor of Maine’s rich logging history, and include green circle, blue square, black diamond, and double black diamond runs, as well as glades and terrain parks. Our season runs from mid-November through early May, so come and experience the challenge and beauty of Sugarloaf for yourself.
